 BLACKLAND
FARM is
owned by Girlguiding UK but is open to all groups. The site consists of
122 acres of fields and woods near Ashdown Forest in the Sussex
countryside. Equipped and unequipped camp sites are available, most of
which have their own modern toilet blocks. Indoor accommodation is also
available throughout the year. Groups may also visit the site on a daily
basis to take advantage of the many activities that are
available.
Abseiling
The
site has a purpose built abseil tower. Participants should be 7 years and
older.

A
variety of courses are available, some leading to qualifications. For our
comprehensive course brochure, please contact the office or look on our
website.
Archery
The
site operates two archery ranges. Participants should be 7 years or older.
Assault
Course
Situated
in Tits Wood, group leader must ensure responsible adult supervises this
activity.
Bungee
Trampoline
This
thrilling activity is new for 2007. Defy gravity and try acrobatic
feats jumping up to 8 metres high! Your harness will bring you safely down
to earth again.
Children's
Birthday Parties
We
are happy to organise activities for children's birthday parties. Please
contact us to discuss your requirements.
Climbing
Wall
The
site has its own professionally built indoor climbing wall. This activity
is ideal as an introduction to climbing and abseiling. The climbing wall
has climbs to suit everyone, from the complete beginner to the experienced
climber. Available to those 7 years and older, sessions are available
throughout the year, including evenings.
Facilities
and equipment for hire
If
you have your own instructors you may hire the climbing wall, abseil tower
and kayaking / open canoeing equipment.

Sledges
Six
sledges are available for use on Kingfisher field.
Kayaking
This
activity takes place at Weirwood reservoir, the part of the reservoir used
is within a 30 minute work of the site. Kayaks have a single seat. As the
participant has to move themselves around the water we limit this activity
to those 10 years and over. All participants must be able to swim 50m in
clothing normally worn for the activity.
Open
Canoeing
Again
this takes place at Weirwood reservoir. Open Canoes are usually paddled by
2 to 4 people depending on age. this activity is an ideal introduction to
water activities and is available to all those 7 years and older. All
participants must be able to swim 50m in clothing normally worn for the
activity.
Orienteering
Courses
The
site has a professionally designed, permanent orienteering course. Maps
are available from the office.
Rifle
Shooting
The
site has an indoor rifle range equipped with 0.177 air rifles.
Rock
Climbing
This
takes place at Stone Farm Rocks, a nearby sandstone outcrop about 20
minutes' walk from the site. this activity is suitable for those 14 years
and older. Participants should ideally have some previous climbing
experience as the climbs at Stone farm are significantly harder than on
our indoor wall.
Swimming
Blackland
has its own heated swimming pool, over 4ft deep, which may be used by
organised parties who book for sessions of half an hour. Such parties
must be in charge of a Leader (or other qualified person over 17 years)
holding the appropriate life-saving qualifications, as stated in the
Guiding Manual. Qualifications may be checked, please ensure you can
produce proof of your qualification.
Parties
wishing to swim elsewhere on expeditions off the site must complete the
appropriate form and comply with the requirements of the Guiding Manual.

A
variety of problem solving exercises are available suitable for all ages.
